Name removable from wa st title
I have sold several cars, the people I've sold them to have failed to transfer the titles into there name, so it states that those vehicles are still in my name when state offices look up my info.
    Q. how to remove my name from those titles even on top of having already sent the seller receipt Ive signed a release of interest form and still I'm registered as the legal owner when certain state offices look up my info how do I resolve. Please help.

Most states require you to mail in a form notifying them who you sold the car to. You should be able to obtain the form online.

First of course as long as you have a copy of the bill of sale, it should not really matter. If they get impounded or ticketed, you have proof they are not yours.

In some states it may not be possible. I know I sold one before, and had my bill of sale, but the other person never registered it. It got impounded, besides provide proff it was not mine, I was not abel to have anything else changed

Keep a good copy of your bill of sale each time, make sure the bill of sale complies with all the requirements of WA State, i.e. AL requires either two witness or in lieu of that one notary. Good question though ! Let me give you an example of why it was a good question --- I write auto insurance, had an insured visit last week, her boyfriend's 25 yr old brother took our insured's veh for a joy ride and damaged her car as well as another one unbeknownst to our insured until she received a letter from the local police dept that her vehicle being driven by an unknown driver was involved in a hit and run. You might require that the purchaser accompany you to the State DMV and you could actually see the buyer complete the ownership transfer but this seems impractical to me. I think you Bill of Sale is your best defense and I would do like another advised and notify the DMV in writing (keep a copy) that you have sold the vehicle to so and so. Check with WA DMV see if they have any other solutions or ideas, I bet they do. Be careful though as if you are buying and sellings cars regularly the DMV might require that you become a licensed auto dealer. For example, AL requires indivuals who sell more than 5 vehicles in a calendar year to apply for a dealer's license, to purchase liab ins and to purchase a $10,000 surety bond.
