    Vacuum switch furnace
Hello my furnace sucks in air then stops then starts again I checked and the gas and burners are fine while it does this. I taped down this black switch and it worked fine? What's wrong is the switch broken?

Well I have no idea what the black switch is but if it is not working correctly then whatever is supposed to depress it correctly is not working since you have to use tape.

A guess is it is the blower door access safety switch. The door has to fit tight for the switch to activate OR the switch is not working as it should.

As hvac1000 said, the black switch is most likely the blower door safety switch. This switch is held in either by the blower compartment cover, or a piece that is connected to the blower compartment cover. Leave it taped for now, put the covers back on and see if furnace works correctly overnight. If it does, look further into why the switch is not staying closed with covers on.
