    Ask roommate expert
I am currently living with two roommates, a girl and a guy. I get along with the girl great but the guy doesn't get along with either of us. From the start he has tried to control us; he advertised for clean and quiet roommates when he is neither, he tried to charge us a "rental fee" for furniture he put in the common area (he furnished the house because he lived there before and when we offered to buy some of his furniture or new furniture, he refused and tried to coerce us into paying a "rental fee" for common room furniture, but we spoke with the landlord and she told him he couldn't), he has yelled at us countless number of times when we question his motives, he tried to get me to split HBO but wouldn't split AMC and Bravo with me, he hid the internet network and yelled at us when we told him we weren't paying anymore and were going to get our own service, he even has told us he always gets a spot in the two car garage even though all three of us have cars. He gave his obnoxious girlfriend a key to the house without consulting us, and she left the key in the door all night one night! Talking to him never works, and talking to our landlord rarely works. His girlfriend brings HER dog over without even asking us if it's okay and the lease doesn't allow pets. We've told our landlord and she said she'd talk to him but she STILL brings her dog over, and just leaves it in his room. Lately, it has gotten much much worse. He has started inviting people over at 4 am and they stay till 7am or 8am; and they are not at all considerate so we get woken up. He has guests blocking the garage at 1am so when I get home, I can't even park in my own garage without asking him to move it. We've talked to him about it too, and every time he says it won't happen, it happens again. The last time this happened, he had people over from 1am until 7am and when I went upstairs to talk to him, he was smoking weed and yelled back at me, claiming he did nothing wrong, by having people over and by smoking weed in the house at 4 am. He and his girlfriend, who I had to remind that she was a GUEST and did not live here, went so far as to call me names, yell at me, and seemed closed to hitting me. When my other roommate and I told our landlord, she only responded by telling us that we should have called the police and the next time there is a noise disturbance, to also call the police. Is this really an option? I know I can call the cops for any illegal substances, but can I call the police for a noise disturbance that is coming from my own home or would that require neighbors calling in for the noise disturbance? Also, what can I do about his rude and unwelcome guests? I know, like I, he has a right to guests because his name is on the lease but can I legally kick them about because they are being disrespectful to the people who actually live here and are being loud at ridiculous times? At what point, does it become trespassing? He never apologizes and never thinks he's wrong and unfortunately, our landlord doesn't really care what goes on.

    Hello g:

I didn't read the whole thing.. Sounds like he's not a fun roommate...

I don't know what your question is. You seem to want to change him or something, or charge his guests with trespassing, or something... You ain't going to change him OR the situation. Just leave and if he sues you, tell the judge what you told us. If you have a deposit and he doesn't return it, sue him.
