    Fight default judgement ny
Hello. I received a notice today from my bank that it received a levy from NY Stated Dept. of Taxation and Finance against my business. In the levy, it stated that the government received a default judgment against me some time after my business closed. I received the levy notice from the bank today, but the judgment was 1.5 years ago. Do I have any recourse? I was never served or received any notice from the courts of government because I assume it went to the old address. I am not able to afford legal service but would try to represent myself. Thanks.

First thing you need to do is go to the courthouse and ask the clerk of court to let you look at the case file. You want to see what it says about how you were served with process.
