    Why did temperature not rise above 57 when set to 69 on heat pump unit?
    Two HVAC technicians have told me there is nothing wrong with my heat which operates off a gas heat pump. However, my auxiliary heat stays on constantly. Last night (was about 18 degrees in GA) the auxiliary heat was on at night and temp was slowly dropping. When I woke up this morning, it was 57 degrees inside and auxiliary heat still on even though thermostat was set on 69 degrees. Please help!!

    Most heatpumps aren`t any good when temps are around 30-32 degrees
    Then your auxiliary heat kicks in
    How tight is your house, if there a lot of heat lose from around the doors, windows,lack of insulation,, have you had the same problems in winters past?
    Have you had a winter this cold in Ga. Since you`ve lived in this house<

    Thanks for the response! This is my first winter in the house. However, the house must be pretty well-insulated because my power bills in the hot, hot summer were very inexpensive (new, double pane windows were installed shortly before I moved in). Guess what? It is 21 degrees right now (3:53am) and the heat has been working PERFECTLY all night. The auxiliary heat has been on but it is set at 72 and has stayed on 72 ALL NIGHT. There HAS TO BE a sensor or something that is going bad and working intermittently or a loose wire or something. Just doesn't make sense that it is performing so well on a very, very cold night and not well on other very cold nights. Any more ideas??
