    Plumbing help
Today I had a frozen pipe on my water softern, the hot water in my tank ran out, once I freed it, the hot water worked OK, the only problem is the hot water is now very hot, so hot you can't stand under in the shower.
    Any ideas

    Hi Oldgeazer:

It is possible that the thermostat ran unchecked for all the time that the line was frozen and it could have caused the thermostat to malfunction, keeping it running more than it used to.

My guess is that the next thing that will happen is that you will wake up and there will be little or no hot water at all as the SAFETY mechanism will have shut the thermostat down. If this happens you would remove the upper access panel and then press the red reset button (see image... red circle) on the thermostat. If it POPS in and you get hot water back shortly thereafter, then the thermostat is shot and you will need to get a new one.

If that happens pop back and let us know so we can talk you through replacing the unit.. not a hard job at all! If you pop back, have an electrical meter or an amp probe so we can test all.
