    Applied Math 10 question
A car is travelling at 60 km/h West away from Vancouver. It is 200 km away from Vancouver after 3 hours. Write an equation which models this situation. Use the equation to determine the distance away from Vancouver after 8 hrs.
It needs to be answered in this format

I don't quite know that format, but I guess (by the x and y) that it's like coordinate geometry.

The gradient here is 60 (the 'rate') [let's take it as a distance-time graph]
On the graph, at time zero, the car is at a certain distance, not known yet.

Well, you know how much distance the car travels in 3 hours. From that, you'll know how far the car was from Vancouver when it started.

From you fixed point that you just got (0, d) where d is the initial distance from Vancouver (meaning at time 0, the car was d km from Vancouver), you can draw a straight line representing how the distance varies as time varies. [you can try making a linear equation for that, this will help for the next part]

Find the point y coordinate of the point with x coordinate 8. (y is the distance) [meaning the distance from Vancouver after 8 hours]
