Dayton 1RKU2 Heater is 480 volts can I change that to 220volts?
I have a Dayton 1RKU2 Heater I bought it for a reasonable amount but then I went to hook up the electrical and noticed it is 480volts 3 phase. I was trying to find out if there is a way to change that to 220volt. If they make a conversion kit for this model or what would I need to do to change it?

    That is a 100,000 + BTU unit.

See page 6 of the below doc. Looks like they are using 240 volt heaters and they are being used as a resistor bridge to take the 480/3 phase.

If you are smart and have a Amprobe to test with it can probably be done. If you do not know what you are doing have someone else do it for you. Any and all safety devices need to be maintained in respect to the capacity of the unit. Have fun.

BTW this will take moving the tie points of the elements so as mentioned before if you do not know what you are doing find someone who knows what they are doing to convert it. Once converted the listing will be destroyed so it will no longer be UL or CSA rated. Your breaker size and conductor size will also change and that will have to be calculated by using the NEC. National Electric Code.
