Why would I get cold water from the hot water tap?
I'm building a new house and hooked up one of the bathrooms to use while I'm completing the house. The problem is have hot and cold water mixed coming from the hot taps. I've checked all the other valves in the house and none of them are mixing the water. I tturned off the valves (I put one on the hot and cold side) at the water heater and get only cold water at the tap. I've talked to both plumbers that worked on it, one did below the slab and one did the rough-in, neither has a solution. The work did pass the county's building inspections.

I sure could use some help.
    Thanks,
    Clint

Do you have mixed hot and cold coming from both the lavatory and tub/shower in just one bathroom? No hot water in the toilet tank?
If that's so one of the plumbers crossed hot and cold water at the manifold that feeds the one bathroom. It would pass inspection because all the inspector checks are the leaks and drainage design. He doesn't track every water line. If it doesn't leak and all rhe fixture have water he assumes the plumbers have enough experience to avoid cross connections. In your case evidently they didn't.
The solution would be to locate the manifold that feeds the bath and check the connections. Good luck, Tom
