How do I increase the water pressure from my well
My question is similar to others already posted, but I need some clarification. The water pressure in my house is not what it should be. It takes almost 15 minutes to fill my tub, and when I tested how many gallons jugs I could fill in one minute with a water hose, I only got 2 and a half jugs filled in one minute. Here are the details. I understand that in regards to air pressure in the tank, it should be 2 pounds less than the lower reading on the pressure gage. It is. When I press the valve on the top of the tank, it releases air, not water, so that test seems to pass. The pressure stats on the gage are 30 and 50, so there is a 20 pound difference. My well is 273 feet deep according to the label at the well head, and if memory serves me right, I have either a 1/2 or 3/4 horse power pump. My well is approximately 120 feet from my house.

So two questions here: 1. Is is possible I need a stronger pump? 2. If I shorten the cut on and cut off pressure to something less than the 20 pound difference, will that increase my pressure to a consistent level, and will it burn up my pump if I do.

It is to my understanding that the pump does not turn on until it hits the lower reading on the pressure gage. I would really like to have a stronger water pressure than what I have. My house is less than 6 years old. Thanks for any help you can give.

The switch controls your pressure. This is a very nice article on how to turn it up.
