Transaxle only works in 2nd, and reverse, fluid was low when I checked it.
    I have a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback..

The car was working fine, as always.. I was going home from work, up a slight hill, before I reached the top of the hill, my engine raced, and I had no transmission engagement all of a sudden. I slowed to a stop, and rolled backward while the engine was running and the transaxle was in drive. I went through the gears, and reverse worked, and 2nd gear worked. I had to drive home slowly in 2nd gear. I checked the fluid, and it was very low. I added more fluid, and tried to drive it again, It worked for awhile in drive, but would not shift out of 2nd gear, and eventually when I revved the engine, once again the transaxle dissengaged. It would only work when I shifted to 2nd, or reverse.

Any ideas? Snapped band? Clogged up hydraulics or valves? Filter? I do not have any ideas of what it could be. Or if it is a minor, or major repair job.

    Thank you
