There are several options depending on what is available to you between the two locations.

    - Do you own fiber between the facilities?
    - Can you put fiber between the two locations?
    - What speed do you plan to run?
    - What's available on each end? Are we talking a simple flat/home network on each end or is this more advanced (i.e. multiple subnets) in each location?
    - Is this for an enterprise or for connecting two homes together?

So the answer really depends on what you have in place or can put in place between the sites.

OK, in this case you have very limited options and two come to mind:

    1) Establish a standard Internet connection at each location from your ISP. Then connect the sites through Site-to-Site VPN.

    2) Purchase a point to point service (Frame Circuit or T1) from your local phone company

For option 1 above you can purchase any number of devices that can do site to site VPN. Cisco, Linksys, and others sell those.

For option 2 above you'll need a purchase a router capable of handling a frame/T1 circuit.

I would think that since you only really need 128K then your best option might be getting separate Internet connections for each site and connecting them together via site to site vpn. This is probably the least expensive solution and since they're less than 2Km apart then chances are they both go back to the same Central Office which means that your standard internet connection between the two sites is likely to be connected on the same router in the CO.

    Good luck.
