I have taken a couple bids by A/C contractors in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This is for a 1400 sq ft single level condo, with a 22 yr old gas pack on the roof. Both bids end up at about $5200-5300, after getting a $425 rebate from the power co. and the $1500 Fed Tax credit. So the upfront cost on these units is near 7k. The first is an American Std 2.5 ton gas pack unit with variable speed soft start motor. The second is a Amana 2.5 ton (didnt specify if variable speed). Both are 14 and a bit above 14 SEER.

Are these prices reasonable? Any other ideas or other brands I ought to look into?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
