No fault in a parking lot?
Is it true that there is "no fault" in a parking lot in Canada?
I was getting into my truck when a huge gust of wind came up and blew my door open and it hit the guys car next to me. It left a SMALL white scuff mark about 1/2 the size of a ladies thumb in length and about the width of a penny. The guy totally freaked, collected my insurance and plate numbers. I was freaked out and didn't think to take a picture, but I do have a witness to the whole accident. Someone told me that there is a no fault claus in a parking lot. I did not admit anything.
I think that even though I don't control God, I will have to pay for this...
I am pretty sure I could have wiped the white mark off. My truck is red, and his was orange, and there was no transfer of paint on either car. (very distinct difference between the red and orange)

No fault refers to paying medical bills no matter who is at fault for the accident. It has nothing to do with property damage.

Yes, if you were not holding onto the door tightly enough (?) and the wind took it, you are responsible for the damage.

Has the other driver approached you or your insurance company with a dollar figure for the damage?

No he hasn't approched us yet, it only happened on Saturday. I had my hands full and was kind of propping the door open with my knee, obviously not the smartest moves.
He just kind of took my info and we left.

    We've all done it.

You may never hear from him again - some of these accidents cause a sort of "knee jerk" reaction at the time and then people calm down.

Ugg I hope so. Is there a certain time limit he has to file the claim?
