We have a CD50 boiler and have had nothing but problems with it since it was installed. The latest one is that it is leaking lots of yellow water. Is this a problem / dangerous?

Where exactly is the water leaking from? A valve? In between boiler sections?

I'm sorry I haven't a clue about boilers. It is above my washing machine and the last two days I have noticed that there is a pool of yellow water ontop of the washing machine. It is definitely coming from the inside of the boiler but that's all I know. It has been raining heavily the last two days but wouldn't have thought that had anything to do with it. We have spent a fortune on plumbers over the last couple of years fixing various things. The last one was a month ago when the boiler pressure kept dropping. There wasn't a leak in the system, they replaced the expansion chamber (the first visit they tried to pump it up which didn't work). Got two young children in the house so really want to make sure it is nothing to worry about until I get yet another plumber out. Don't suppose you want a holiday to England to fix it!

In order to tell you much you would really need to go up to the unit and try to see where the water is coming from.

Could be rain water getting in to the house... would probably turn yellow as it worked its way through wood, etc...

Could be the boiler, but most boiler water doesn't go yellow... unless boiler antifreeze is in the system (if have exposed heat pipes somewhere).

I don't think it could be anything dangerous at this time.

Let me know what you find/think here...

Thank you Mark. It is definitely coming from inside the boiler as the yellow marks are running down the bottom of the front of the boiler (from inside). I think I will have to call a plumber out tomorrow.

Boilers can be sometimes be temporarily fixed by using a radiator sealer for cars ( like "Bars Leak") which will seal up small holes if the boiler is kept hot for approx. 1/2 hour.This may get you by for a few weeks till the boiler is fixed properly ( mine had a leaking 3/4 inch plug that had washed out the metal from the inside leaving a small pinhole, replacing the plug fixed the leak).
