Why doesn't the garage door open in the cold weather
We have a Craftsman Screw Drive Garage door opener and when the weather gets cold it only opens a few feet and you have to keep moving it up and down via the control inside the garage. Could the problem be remedied the same way as the chain drives?

Ours does the up and down dance too. We end up keeping the button depressed while pulling down on the door to get it to close. No problem with opening though. Ours is about 6 years old,the door opener; Sears 1/2 power. I am thinking of placing a spot light on the ceiling opener, keeping it on always. It might keep it warmer.
