AV receiver connect to HDTV, but no sound?
I have an AV receiver connected to an HDTV with red and white cables(audio in to audio out). The provider cable is connected to the HDTV, and I have a blu-ray connected to the HDTV with an hdmi cable. The blu-ray works, but I cannot get sound of the speakers connected to the receiver. Any help would be appreciated? (I have turned the sound off on the TV speakers, but that didn't work)

Just so you are aware, you will not get discrete surround sound with analog audio (the red and white). Am I correct to interept that you have the audio out from the TV going to an audio in on the receiver? What make and model is your TV? Some TVs not only have a setting for turning on/off the TV speakers, but also for fixed/variable output. Try setting this option to fixed.

Please also provide the make and model of your other components. If you are looking to get surround sound you will need to hook up your components to the receiver with digital connections (HDMI->Fiber Optic->Digital Coax).
