How much do I charge for light hauling?
I have an 8 yd one ton dump truck and a tractor with a frontend loader -- I have been hauling junk and debris at a minimum charge of $150 -- it costs about $42 to dump the load at the city landfill -- some jobs take a full load others not -- when I pull up to a job I may be there anywhere from 1 to 2 hours loading, then if needed I will spend another hour dumping the load --business is fair -- my question is this --- am I charging enough? -- and how much should I charge to clean the exterior of a construction site and haul off debris and scrap materials etc. I'm thinking that I could tell the contractor he should get anything he wants hauled away to the outside of the building, that way I cannot damage any new construction on the inside getting trash outside therefore reducing my liability. -- I am wanting to take my business full time but don't know what road to take -- I am currently advertizing in the local paper and american classifieds -- I am convinced the potential is out there in my area -- what are your thoughts. Thanks -- tom

Have you looked into what others in your area charge for similar services? That could give you an idea as to what you should be charging. Once you familiarize yourself with the business you can look for ways to cut expenses and charge competitive rates.
