Universal remote control for ceiling fan
I moved into a home that has a ceiling fan that operates only with a remote. The loght has a pull switch however the fan does not. As lucj would have it there is no remote. Additionally there is no manufacture name anywhere on the fan, blades, lights, motor, assembly, etc... etc.. I found a UL sticker with some information:
e81964 model 1930... there is no company that sez that this is their fan... casablanca, hunter, or harbor bay I did find a link between the "e81964" and a Halsey import company. Is there a univrsal "Remote/transmitter" that will work with the "ROUND" receiver (it has small switches 1-5 for pairing) that is installed on this fan as a square one that is availabel at home deopt or Lowe's will not fit within the space since it is hanging from an extender..

Buy a universal remote which will replace the receiver in the canopy and the missing handheld unit.

I tried this.. First the universal receiver will not fit in the canopy as it is on an extension and there is not enough room for it. Additionally the receiver is square and it will not fit in the "round" space that houses the factory receiver. The directions for the universal also indicated that I need to "switch" the fan on and have it on "high" before placing the receiver inline. There is no switch that will allow me to do this as it ONLY turns on via remote. Any other ideas before I go buy a new fan?

    Thanks!

Look for a different brand of universal remote. They are a tight squeeze to get into the canopy but most every one I have done would eventually fit. If you do not have a pull chain for the fan just skip that part of the directions, your fan is on high 24/7 already

Chances are the wiring will not match up either. How many wires come from the fan?

Does the remote LED light up when you try to control the fan?

Thanks for your input.. I have taken a few pictures and will post them now.. I found a link that indicates the fan was made in china.. no surprise there..

We really like the "look" of the fan and want to get it working. I took pictures of the receiver and the wires. Is there a remote that can be "programed to work with this receiver?

    Thanks,

    Try CeilingFanParts.com Home

Halsey made Regency fans so it could be one of theirs, you can try them as well.
