What is the useful life rule on carpet in North Dakota in a rental
I recently moved out from a rental in North Dakota. I lived there for 1.5 years. There was slight damage to the carpet which the landlord told me that he would repair, but the carpet was discontinued. Now I'm being charged to replace at new cost. Although, I lived there for 1.5 years and the carpet was not new when I moved in, I have doubts that it was even professionally cleaned. The landlord is charging me for cleaning and also replacing the carpet. Is there a North Dakota law or rule on useful life of carpet. Also, can I be charged to have carpets cleaned that he is replacing?

When I owned property I calculated the useful life of carpeting to be 8 years. When I took a tenant to Court I figured 10 years, a more generous figure, and that was awarded to me. Do you have photos when you moved in and others from when you moved out?

    Is he claiming damage? Spots?
