Heater polarity reversed
My heater stopped working so I checked in the attic, the light is blinking which means: Line voltage(115VAC) polarity reversed. If twinned, refer to twinning kit instructions. I think it is a natural gas heater, Bryant brand.
The manual I have reads:Bryant-day&night-Payne
Induced-Combustion Gas Furnace
Model 373LAV Downflow &383KAV upflow
Is there anything I can do to fix this myself? I know the ground for this house(I just moved in recently) needs to be fixed and wonder if that could be an issue.

Anything is possible but you can start by inspecting the house electric panel and making sure that the neutral and hot leg for the furnace is attached correctly and that the ground wire is also attached properly. Then go to the furnace and check the power circuit the same way. When that is done post back.

Your furnace is not twinned so do not pay any attention to the twinning instructions.
If you furnace has been working right before now it is possible that you have lost your ground. Or it could be that someone has unpluged the furnace and plugged it back in wrong.

Well, all that seems fine, and I expected it to since it was working before. I made a few calls to local repair shops and the consensus seems to be the control board. Does that sound right?

Did you do anything about this and how do you know something is wrong with the ground to your house.
It possibily be the board on your furnace fut that is quite an expense to go to for it to not be the problem.
I would check ever possilbe thing before I bought a board.

Read the LED code. I had the same problem before and thinking it was ground issue, turn out it was a dirty flame sensor. I did a component test and it gave me code 33. There are numbers of possible solution to this problem. I would start with cleaning the flame sensor. This usually fix the problem first try...
Please report back when fixed so other can learn...

Does the board on your furnace have a black plastic frame around it? If so the boaard is more than likely the problem, We have had lots of trouble with them.

Regarding reverse polarity, I have 5 outlets in a room all showing reversed. The top of the outlets are wired to the light switch(red wire) the bottoms are hot all the time(black wire).
