Blowing cold air instead of heat
My central Goodman GMS8 gas furnace in my attic has been blowing out 68 degree temperatures when I have the thermostat set on 78. I have 2 units one that serves upstairs and one that serves down, the one up stairs heater is running perfectly and so is all the other gas appliances. The unit is 13 months old (just over a year) and when I called my technician he said he would come out for $75 service fee, so I decided to try to find out what it is myself, even though the parts are under warranty I think that is a little step being the unit is Fairly new. I’m thinking maybe a pilot blew out, not sure that’s why I would appreciate if anyone could tell me what I’m looking at here. Thanks

The pilot on that unit is electronic. I suggest you spend the 75.00 since the part may not be available to you under warranty since you are not a dealer for that equipment. Also it is possible for you to void the warranty since once again you are not a certified mechanic for the Goodman corporation.

Your right, but I do know that the unit tries to ignite itself at least 3 times before shutting down, and my unit is not shutting down, the fan is still running which means the sensor is reading everything correctly unless on the motherboard. No I'm not a certified mechanic for Goodman, I'm just Mechanical Designer who never uses Goodman for any application and want to learn more about them since that manufacture was installed in my home, and I'd like to do so without spending the other arm, the unit itself just over a year already cost me the first one.

Here is some info for you

    Spec sheet

    http://www.ncweb.com/~jsbuilders/gms8-gds8.pdf

Here is the install and service manual. Trouble shoot chart and complete wiring diagram with fault code. Look for the number of blinks to see what fault the furnace is posting. Since you are a mechanical designer I am sure you can follow along this manual to come to your own conclusion as to what your problem is. Post back with questions if you have them. I still have my PE stamp but never use it anymore.

Cold air, no heat [ 2 Answers ]

During the night the heat in my HVAC stopped working. I switched it to air and turned down the thermostat and the AC kicked on, I switch it back to heat and nothing, tired "auto" and "fan" settings. It was working fine when I went to bed, heating fine, kicking on and off just fine, then nothing.
