    DUI in Texas
    Hello

I was wondering if DUI's were public information? It is not for myself. I have the case number, but am wondering how to get information online about this case. I have searched, but no luck, so I thought I would ask here...

Yes, DUI's like any traffic ticket is public information. The reason you might not be able to find it by case number is that you are not looking in the right county's website court information. You could try searching by the person's name and see if that brings it up. You might search the surrounding counties as well for the case.

    Twinkie

I went to Bexar County's website (San Antonio) and the only thing I could find on searching was a "magistrate's arrest record search" but nothing came up... at all.

There were no other links to search.

You walk into the courthouse, or pay a paralegal researcher to go in and actually pull the records.

Not everything is on web pages

Most places have companies ( with offices next to the courthouse) that have people who do research and get it for you, all you do is pay them.
You can look for legal research firm, or paralegal companies

Actually I was wrong. The arrest was made by the San Antonio police department. I'm still looking... but I did send them an email.

My dear friend just got his second dui. I believe the first one was within ten years, possibly 7 years ago. I believe the first one happened in his early 40's and this newest happened days ago and he is now 50.

I do not condone what he did and he should know better. He put a lot of people in danger and that upsets me. It was a STUPID move on his part twice over.

I am just trying to understand the legal part of this. I live far away and maybe if I can understand all of this, I can try to do something from all these miles away.

Does it stay on their record forever? Since it has been a certain number of years between dui's will the newest one treated as the first occurrence?

If I understand this correctly, he will have to go to court and THEN he may lose his license? How is he allowed to still drive, even if up to the court date?

Is this public information that I can obtain a copy?

Call the Clerk's Office and ask them how you can get a copy of this.
