    Beneficiary
    I have finally had the proper time to greive the sudden loss of my mother this summer but I have not done the proper work that needs to be processed. I am her only child and there is no notorized will. Her family has no intention to contest any findings. In the state of VA, where she passed this all falls to me. She had a lot of secrets, several bank accounts, and more debt than I can keep up with. I have cleaned her rented house and most of the family furniture is with me, with about $4,000 in general belongings donated. Her mail was forwarded to my address. I have been sending out death certificates to debtors, but everyday is a new surprise. I know I should be doing more but honestly have no idea of what! I really need to start pulling her assets together with no clue as to where to start. Who do I go to for support? Please help?

    We used an attorney for my father's estate. It is amazing how fast they can get it all cleared up and settled. At least go for legal advice.

    You really should retain an Attorney - I do not know what the probate laws in Virginia are but someone should review the situation and make a determination whether the estate needs to be admitted to probate.

    And my sympathy on your loss.
