    Plumbing sink drain collar gaskets
There are three collara (3" (? ) around 3 sections of the water drain from the kitchen sink. One of the collars is leaking. What kind of gasket is inside the collar. The collar itself is not broken.

There are 2 gaskets: One is black rubber and the other is paper (friction) gasket. They both go under the sink. Black rubber gasket goes against the sink and the paper gasket goes bet. Black gasket and nut.

You put Plumber's Putty on the flange between sink and flange. As you tighten up the strainers, Putty will squeeze out. Remove is when you are done.
