I have an interior wall light switch which does not have a power source to it. It was originally ran this way by the electrician that wired my home when it was built in 2004 for the sole purpose of an exterior dock light switch. This switch has 12/2 wire with a ground that has been routed through the attic to the other side of my home to an outside designated dock main panel. This 100 amp breaker panel is powered directly from one of the homes main 200 amp panels.

From the designated dock panel 12/2 wiring with a ground has been ran under ground in conduit down to a post with a sub panel on it. This 100 amp breaker sub panel has power ran out to the dock but for this circuit it is being utilized as a pull box location.

Here is the question: Could I supply power by back feeding the power to the interior wall switch by installing a 15/20amp standard breaker in the designated dock panel with the black wire of the interior wall switch being connected to the black wire connection of the breaker. From there I would connect to the black 12 gauge wire ran to the dock sub panel then to the black wire of the post light that will be mounted on top of that post. The return path would be the white wire of the light to the white wire of the 12 gauge wire run back to the designated dock panel then connected to the white wire of the wall switch. Grounds would be connected in the same fashion.

I think that this is the only way to do this. Is it safe and proper to back feedthis way? All of the wires are Thhn/Thwn grade ran through conduit and will be properly connected. The post light will be the only item on this separate 15/20 amp max circuit. It is a pressure treated post that is anchored in a dry location and the post light will be mounted at least 5' above the ground. The purpose for mentioning this is that I plan to use a standard 15 amp or 20 amp max circuit breaker instead of a GFI breaker for this circuit.

Please advise me if this is the proper way to complete this circuit. If not then please advise me the right way.
