Connecting hdtv, stb, analogue vcr/dvd combo and AVR
    Hi,
I have the following equipment which I purchased in 2006:
    Sharp HDTV
    Panasonic VCR/DVD recorder combo (analogue)
    Panasonic AV Receiver (analogue)
    DGTEC HD set top box

I have connected all the above, but I have to keep the STB swithced on so that I can watch the TV. Also I don't think that the quality of picture I'm getting when watching TV through the VCR/DVD combo is as good as it should be. Would appreciate any suggestions on connections as to how I can avoid having the STB on always and improve my picture.

You have too much connected all at once. The only way to get a better picture is to have each device hooked up to the TV as needed. That's what I do with my VCR and TV. Then when I want to watch a DVD I use the RCA cables and hook that up by itself disconnecting the VCR. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I've tried and it doesn't work. Sorry. Especially with all the gadgets you have it will never work properly if not done singly as I've sugested.

LCD and HD TV's are a different animal than the old analog tv's of yesteryear. They cannot handle all those gadgets as they don't have enough proper outlets or connection ports to properly accommodate them. Trust me. I've tried every concieveable configuration known to me and the manuals.

I'm not convinced by your argument twinkiedooter. I had all but the STB connected before without any problems except for the qualty of picture due to analogue pictures being passed to my HDTV from the combo. I only connected the STB to get digital picture because the combo was analogue.
