Why have you split up, and what have you already tried to repair the marriage.

A little more information and history will give people a better idea on how to offer help.

You can not work things out, unless both parties want to work on it.
If the wife is not willing to even try and work things out, you can't do it on your own

There usually is more to what's really going on. Why did she recommend counseling in the first place? What's going on in your day to day life?

Based on what you've offered, it's hard to give help to you.

No matter what has gone wrong, I'm happy to hear you are seeing someone about it.

You say you have split up, do you live apart then? Are you in the house, or is she in the house with your child.

Have you had lawyers involved yet? Are you in regular contact with your wife?

How long have you been apart.

I really want to tell you to fight, but I'm not yet sure what the problems are that have caused this.

If your wife doesn't want to work things out then there's no point in continuing to try. Call a reliable, experienced divorce lawyer.
