    Over playful? Dog and socializing.
Hey guys, my problem is, my pure English Staffy, who is 2 and a half yrs old, doesn't play nice with other dogs. Mishka is all right with me when walking, one pull on choker and 'bah' and she stops, but when other half walks her, she and Mishka sees another dog, she constantly pulls and makes a yelping noise, not a growl and such or back, but a yip yap noise. Like she really wants to go and play with the dog.
The other week, we seen a (2 yr old) 'purebred male English Staffy' free to good home. We thought it was a good opportunity to get Mishka a friend, AND for her to breed. Well, owners wanted us to bring our dog around to their house to see how they got on. Long story short, Mishka again made the yelping noise, not aggressive noise, and she nipped other dog on nose and it started bleeding. So we all made hasty retreat, and they stopped thinking about letting us take their dog, cos the dogs didn't get along.
I got Mishka as a 7/8 week old pup, and when she came here, we had a 1 and a half yr old female husky X German Shepperd. They were around each other for about a month and there was no dramas, but then we were told we couldn't have 2 big dogs on property so we had to remove one. About a yr later or so, we brought Sasha (husky X) back for a hello visit, and well, after a meet and greet, and Mishka getting a little scratch, so separation, but then 5 minutes later, they were fine and playing. Then Mishka was alone again. She isn't aggressive at all, am just not sure what to do, but would like to get her a friend... any suggestions would be excellent thanks.

    Puppy training classes.

Even though she is older you need to get her enrolled in a puppy training or socialisation class to try and teach her some manners around other dogs.

At these classes they usually just teach you how to control your dog, and they also teach the dog how to behave around other people and animals.

You can look them up in your phone book or call your local kennel club to find out when and where classes are being held.
I live in a small town and we have these classes (as well as agility and obedience) every week.

I could give you some pointers on here but honestly, I think the classes would be your best bet.

We thought it was a good opportunity to get Mishka a friend, AND for her to breed.
And no, no, no, I could write a whole chapter on how many ways this is wrong but I will simply tell you to get your b*tch spayed, it will hopefully calm her down a little plus you will be avoiding health problems in any future puppies as I'm sure you wouldn't have health certificates for you dog or any dog you intend to breed her with. (And no a health certificate is NOT a vet check!)
