Don't remember much a about this one either and its about a man that has kidnapped a child and is holding them in a house in the woods, maybe for ransom I can't remember.

In the end I think the kidnapper leaves the house to go get food or something and the child's father or a detective etc drives past him because they find out where the child could possibly be, I think the kidnapper spots him turn into his road that leads to his house or something and they go back fight, think the kidnapper dies and the child is rescued.

When I say a house in the woods I don't mean dead center of the woods as such, as in a road leads there etc and its quite a posh house and I don't think there is very much near it for a few miles in either direction.


Maybe it starts with the kidnapper on a boat when the child is abducted,that could be another film now.

Nah, that's not in I don't think, does that end up in a house in the woods?

However that is definitely where I thought of the boat scene from.

I think the film may be a little older than this as well.

How about Ransom with Mel Gibson? I haven't seen it for years and can't remember the details but it could be...

Nope, that's a good film though.

I can't remember anything baring the end half hour and only bits at that.

A man is keeping a child (however it could well be a woman - someone's wife perhaps) captive in the house in the middle of the country, the house is quite a posh house and is surrounded by trees apart from the drive leading up to it.

Then the child's father or persons husband finds out where they are or realises where they are someone how and waits nearby in a car or hiding someone until the kidnapper leaves the house (think they may have been going to get some food or something from the nearest town) and then the husband goes to the house, find the "kidnappee" but at the same time the kidnapper turns the car around because he realises he has forgot something (perhaps his wallet). He then drive back home getting closer and closer as the father figure is saving the "kidnapee". Its getting all intense and as father & co are escaping he looks out the window to see the kidnappers car back. Terror strikes his face, then the woman or kid hides and there is a big fight, the kidnapper gets killed, happily ever after.

Some bits I may have guessed slightly but I think its 90% correct.

P.s. I think the Child or woman could have possibly been kept in a safe room in the basement or something - not 100% sure on this though.

Think the kidnapper did it all for ransom as well,

However thinking about it it could have been a man or father that snatched the kid, the police didn't do anything and the mother finds where he is now living and tries to rescue her son or daughter which is why its so tense when the crazy husband turns back up in his car.

A couple of stabs in the dark - Trapped (Kevin Bacon), Kiss the Girls (Morgan Freeman) or one of the several movies called Buried Alive?

100% sure its not buried alive.

Could be Kiss the Girls or Trapped because I haven't seen either of them as far as I'm aware

Just watched the trailer though and I do not see the house in the country.

Just like to add I've found what the movie I was trying to think of was.
