When I turn my tub or shower on I only get hot water. I have a symmons temptrol one dial control. My husband and I replaced the diverter spindle ta-25and still no cold water. What else could it be?

Hi Kobe:

You replaced the diverter spindle.. That was not the correct part to replace if having issues with water flow to the entire valve. Here, you should have replaced the entire STEM ASSEMBLY (part TA-10). You may also need to change the hot and cold water seats, but first, change out the stem assembly and confirm that you have water flow back 100%.

When you removed the cartridge PULSE the cold water on to try to flush the pipe out. This will clear the line AND confirm that cold water is getting to the valve.

If you try to pulse the water on and no water comes out (cartridge removed) then there is something clogging the line... most likely clogged at the first SHUTOFF going away from the valve. Here, you would shut off the main water supply and then disassemble the shutoff, then pulse the water main on (towel covering the shutoff) and see if that cleared the block. Reassemble the shutoff and try the valve. How is it now? You may need to cut the old shutoff out.
