In the first few years I believe money matters are a huge issue and in later years it may be sex but I think the major problem is communication,or lack of communication.

My guess would be that people simply grow apart, this often happens when ids come into te picture. The kids grow up and leave and the partners don't even know each other anymore.

We have been together for 3 yrs an we really don't argue about money as I see it as long as my bills are paid who cares about money.

The number one cause of divorce is lack of communication.
Money, sex, children - even infidelity - none of them are real problems if you can talk about them.

I think people can love each other very much, and communicate well, but when it comes to knowing how to handle money, and raise children, the differences can cause a breakup.
Both partners can agree to a budget, and then something comes up, like one needs a root canal, and that knocks the budget out of whack, and a lost day at work due to taking care of the tooth, well, the end of the month is suddenly short a few hundred dollars, and the bills cannot all be paid that month. Most people live payday to payday, and cannot save for a rainy day. Money stress is right up there, and the stress (not even with being blamed for it) will eat at the relationship, cause arguments, resentment, and hardship.
Infidelity should be up there near the top as well. With the divorce rate being what it is, there is a good chance that one or the other is screwing around.
Child rearing is a challenge like no other, especially when there are teenagers involved. Do I think children can destroy a marriage? Yes, I do. Again, the stress, different opinions and view points, inconsistency, all contribute to the fabric of the marriage deteriorating, regardless of how well you communicate.
Unrealistic expectations can cause divorce as well. Expecting that money problems, kid problems, infidelity, cannot happen to you, regardless of how well you communicate, is blind faith and not realistic.
I just think it is too simple to blame 'communication' as the number 1 cause of divorce.

I agree with you ; money is the #1 killer of marriages.
