Reuse cement board for tiling job?
I am replacing tile for a bathtub and seprate shower stall. I have removed the old tile and behind is cement board that is in reasonable shape.

Is it viable to reuse the Wonderboard or should I replace it with new board?

Have you tried to remove the cement board yet? If it was properly installed you have to tear it to pieces to remove it. In any case, do not reuse the cement board. Cement board, Wonder board, Hardiebacker board is fairly cheap and best to install new.

I have not tried to remove the cement board yet. I am now looking even less forward to tearing it to pieces but thanks for the heads up.

I plan on using a product called Wedi board to replace the cement board. This is a lightweight foam core with a thin cement layer on both sides. Using their sealant it is promising 100% waterproof coverage.

The price is higher for the Wedi board but when I compared to making the cement board waterproof the cost gets a lot closer. The second best feature is how light the board is in comparison.

Has anyone had experience with Wedi building panels?
