    Felon wanting to adopt
    My husband is a felon. We live in Illinois. My son's real father wants nothing to do with him and my husband is the only father my son has ever known. We were thinking about adoption but were wondering if my husband could adopt him since he is a felon.

    Unless his felony was violence against a child or spouse, most likely. Step parent adoptions rarely(never?) have background checks involved.
