I've seen major problems with Dodges that don't have Champion spark plugs in them. Only use the exact Champion plugs that came in the vehicle. Other brands of plugs break down fast in them, for some reason.

My husband thinks it is a fusible link problem. Find the link that is bad and replace or wire it direct.

The problem isn't likely a fusible link. I've never seen or heard of any "healing" after sitting. Also, wiring a protection devise directly would be dangerous. Especially if you don't know what caused the fuse to open. Should something be shorted without an inline fuse, you could easily start a fire, or at least cause damage to vital vehicle wiring.
NEVER bypass circuit protection devices. Nor should you ever install fuses larger than specified for that particular circuit.

When the vehicle is a "no-start", check for power and ignition pulses at the ignition coil. Be careful: the Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the coil. I recommend minimum 10 Meg Ohm multi-meter with Min/Max capabilities.
Also, try replacing the Automatic Shut-down relay. It may have poor contacts that won't allow current while hot but will once cooled off after allowed to sit.

Excellent idea. I had this problem with an Opel Capri, which I picked up at Frankfurt/Rein Mein airport several years ago. Created all sorts of problems, when I got over the Alps and pulled into Geneoa, Italy.
