How do I fix my ceiling fan switch?
Hi, new to this site... I bought a Hunter ceiling fan from the depot and installed it and it worked fine until one of the kids snapped the chain off in the switch and it was stuck on low. I went and bought a new 4-wire switch for it and installed it. Now when I plug my switch housing into the fan motor the fan kicks on high and will not change speeds or turn off. There is no dedicated wall switch just a 3-wire (Black , Green, and White) that runs from the hard wire in the attic. How can I Fix this?

Recently had the same problem with a Hunter fan. No switch from Home Depot or Lowe's will work after several trips and purchasing cheap switches. Go to Switchco.com and speak with them They were great walked me through identifying my switch and mailed me the correct one. 3 days later fan works perfectly and $16 (inc. shipping and part) was a lot less expensive than a new fan.
