I want to become a cop
I am 23 years old and I was stupid about 3 years ago and used one of my friends credit cards I was arrested and had to go to court and I got it all deffered I have nothing on my record, it was a dumb mistake and I have paid the price. Is there any way I can still be a cop if I've messed up but I don't have anything on my record?

There will be record of your arrest. You will have an uphill battle. How much did you steal?

This would have been a misdemeanor.

The police and any company that requires a national background search will still be able to see the arrest.

You will still be able to be a cop. But remember for any one opening there is often 50 to 100 applications. So you most likely will have to start at smaller departments

At least if you do become a cop, you can look back at the dumb things you did. Cops in my town will hold everything you do against you, I mean as a regular citizen, acting like they have a halo or something.
