    Welder wiring
I just purchased a Chicago Electric Dual Mig welder. I wired a #10 outlet and have power to the machine, but it does not turn on. Was wondering if they run off two hots and a ground, which I have wired, and have 110 on each side of the plug. Is this correct?

What is the required voltage and amperage of the welder?

If the welder requires only 240 VAC, then your wiring is correct providing that you are using a dual 30 Amp breaker. And a #10/2 AWG cable.

If the welder requires 240/120 VAC, then you need to install a #10/3 cable.

When you said a "#10" outlet, are you actually saying that you installed a receptacle listed for 30 Amps?
