First, my period has always been on time, every 28 to 30 days, like clockwork. I have never been on the pill and been with my husband for 21+ years, ever since high school. We have never been able to get pregnant and eventually stopped trying about 5+ years ago. My period was 3 days late and then it was 4 days early and they were both very short. The 3 days late lasted only 3 days and wasn't painful but the early next period was painful but also short. Ever since my last period I have experienced on-going headaches, always tired but can't always sleep, my breasts are getting bigger and feel tender and my stomach is getting larger. I took a pregnant. Test and it came up negative. Maybe I am just getting fat. I am 5'6 and weigh 115 lbs and yet my stomach is looking huge as are my breasts. I have no health insurance so can't go to a doctor unless by emergency, can't afford the $200+ upfront fee's they all seem to require and don't qualify for free health insurance. Could I be pregnant? My mother told me she had her period for 4 months with my brother and about 3 months with my sister. If I am not pregnant, what else could be wrong with me? I am 37 years old. Thanks for anyone out there that thinks they may have an answer.

Are you taking the pregnancy test using first morning urine?

Also, at 37, it is possible you are entering the early stages of menopause, called perimenopause. This is when our periods become erratic and the timing is off.
