I have a leaky water valve.
Hi. My name is clint from Missouri. I have a question about a leaky water valve. Its in my well house and is very old and brittle. Its leaking at the top of the valve head. Is there somekind of boot, or tape I can use as a temp fix? I'm afraid if I try to replace it, I will break the pipe and I'm not able to afford a project like that just yet. I appriciate your answer

    Hey Clint from Missouri,
Sounds like it's leaking from the stem. There's a nut just below the handle.(see image). This will be the bonnet packing nut. Snug this nut up until the leak stops.
CAREFUL! Don't over tighten. Stop when the leak stops. Good luck, Tom
