Any advantage to replacing 14 year old low beam bulbs
I have a 1996 Saturn with 212,000 miles on it and am "fixing" it up for my 16 year old granddaughter. I am wondering if there would be better illumination if I replaced the still "good" low beam headlight bulbs with new bulbs? Obviously I don't want to fork out over $40 if this won't make night driving any more illuminating!

I don't have a solid, yes or no answer, but I can think of 2 possible reasons offhand to change them. If the present bulbs are the original bulbs that came with the car, the newer halogen lights probably are at least slightly brighter. Also, bulbs that old may burn out in the near future. Replacing them now might just be good preventative maintenance and could help avoid a possible ticket.
