    Lucius,

Your question is relatively simple, however it gives me pause. I strongly suggest that you get a licensed electrician to do this work.

To begin with are you in the U.S. Here in the U.S. the voltage is at 240 VAC, not 220.

We need to know what the actual appliance is, what are it's voltage and Amperage needs are (i.e. a straight 240 VAC connection or a 240/120 VAC connection.)

Then you have to supply the amperage needed by the appliance. The distance from the main panel to where the appliance will be located.

Then you need to purchase a DPDT breaker for the amperage rating and the correct AWG cable size for the amperage needed.

The type of cable (I suggest a Copper cable) will also be dependent on whether you can use a three wire connection or a four wire connection.

Next you need to supply the correct receptacle for the Amperage and Voltage for the circuit.

The most dangerous part is working within the main panel itself. Even if you open the main circuit breaker, you must be careful not to get near the main feed line to the panel, they are still live and deadly.

If you still insist on doing this yourself, please let us know.
