My stomach is a little ill shaped after my cysectomy surgery. Is this normal?
    Hello all,
My question is a little long therefor I didn't print it on the top.

I had a cystectomy On Sept. 21st 2009. Yes I am still healing, it is only the forth week after the surgery. Basically I need to know if any other woman has experienced this.. or if anyone knows about this...

I was cut at my bikini line, it's about a 4 inch scar. The scar is healing fine, although I notice that the left side of my stomach, there is a bigger and higher up bulge the on the right side of my stomach. This is right on top of the scar. I know that it takes 8 weeks to heal and mine has been 4 now. It seemed like from the day of my surgery till now.. the swelling has gone down each day dramatically. Now there is no change.. I have that bulge ( kind of like a belly roll) above my scar... it doesn't go down anymore. My stomach is still a little tender down there and a little numb.. so I'm hoping its just not healed yet. I have always had a flat stomach.. I am one woman that loved my stomach. I am fearful that this will be like this forever... does anyone know anything about this? Has anyone experienced this with a surgery? Does this ever go away?

I went to my doctors yesterday and talked with her about this. She said " well if it is the muscle then It will be like that for ever, and if it is just the playdo like substance under the skin.. then it may go away". She didn't know the answer.. basically she said it was a 50/50 chance!

I just would like to know if anyone had gotten a surgery where they were cut at the bikini line.. pelvic bone. Like a c section, cystectomy.. anything where you may have experienced this. I hope that someone can help... I pray that my mind can be soothed!

    Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, your Doctor DID know the answer - it all depends on whether it's a muscle problem/cut or fluid under the skin.

I had surgery with a bikini cut some years ago. It took quite some time for my stomach to flatten out (and I'm very slender) but the muscle was not cut.
