Stimulus update
Good news, TARP is working and creating jobs. In New York, $500 million has "saved or created" 54 jobs. That's over $9 million per job. I could have created more than 54 jobs if they had just given me the $9 million.

Furthermore, the White House announced last month that the stimulus had "saved" a million jobs. Or was that 30,083 jobs?

At least he still has his Nobel.

In the real world stuff like that does not happen. Only in the messed up world of politics would a single job cost $9M.

But what about all the jobs that were LOST?

So far I think the folks in Washington are doing a swell job of gutting America of jobs, homes, money in savings accounts, 401K's, etc, etc. What else can we expect from the brilliant minds in Washington? I shudder to think... I shudder to think...

Twice a day I have to detour around a massive road project with one of them Obama stickers on a placard telling me the stimulus money is at work.
What they are doing is stripping off the old black top off the highway and putting fresh blacktop down. Would the work have been done this year without the stimulus money ? Probably .

What a coincidence, I have to find my way around a resurfacing project because of stimulus money at work... but they wouldn't dare advertise it with an Obama placard here, lol.

Notice the proviso at the end of the article claiming that it is too early to judge the stimulus bill's effectiveness?

Is that anything like saying that it's too early to judge Obama's presidency... even though he's already been given a Nobel Peace Prize?

Exactly when is the right time to judge the effectiveness and efficacy of the stimulus? In the year 2038?

And did you notice those 30,000 jobs "exceeded their projections?"

The two lane mom and pop road I use was finally resurfaced this last summer. There were NO signs declaring anything other than Detour Next 6.6 miles. It was just time that Route 3 got resurfaced as Route 83 got it 2 years ago in this county. Last year nothing got resurfaced as there was no money at all in this county. They just went out and halfa$$ed patched the potholes along the side of the roadway where it was crumbling.

Now my county is down to 2 Deputy cars at any given time out on the road. They have also shut down one entire floor of the jail and only have 3 floors open. In the county above us, the judges have been told that they are each allotted 28 places in the county jail for prisoners and they cannot go beyond that amount or they must release a prisoner early to make room! Ohio is not slowly going broke - it's going broke at 95MPH! And counting. The county library had to cut personnel and cut hours at the facilities. What's next?

So I guess the 30,000 jobs "created" with that money was sure worth it. (I sincerely hope you can read the sarcasm in my voice with that sentence).

If you're running the leg of the 4 x 100 meter race, you can't be blamed if the runner that was supposed to hand you a baton, threw it in the river...

I don't know why simple history is so hard for you folks.. I mean, it wasn't too long ago either...

I don't know of any tracks that run along the river, but think of Obama as the anchorman... he's supposed to be the one getting it done :D

Time for another stimulus update, "nearly $6.4 billion was used to “create or save” just under 30,000 jobs" in 440 congressional districts that do not exist. Porkulus has more than doubled the size of the House of Representatives!

More than $2 million was given to the 99th District of North Dakota, a state which has only one congressional district. In order to qualify for 99 districts, North Dakota would have to have a population of about 60 million people, almost 24 million more people than California.

The stimulus revived 8 recently retired congressional districts. Pennsylvania’s 21st District has received just under $2 million in funds. Mississippi’s 5th District and Oklahoma’s 6th received $1 million from the legislation, respectively. All three were eliminated by the 2000 census.

Many other recipients carried the banner for congressional districts that have been defunct for decades. South Carolina’s 7th took the cake, garnering more than $27 million in stimulus funds, despite being eliminated in 1930. And Virginia’s 12th District may have been written off at the start of the Civil War, but it must carry some sentimental value in Old Dominion–it received more than $2 million, according to recovery.gov.

The stimulus helped to create 35 congressional districts in Washington D.C. and the four American territories, all of which have no congressional districts. These areas received $5 of the $6.4 billion distributed to the non-existent districts.

New Mexico Watchdog broke the story on Monday morning after finding that $26 million in stimulus money had been distributed to 13 congressional districts–ten more than the state actually has. Similar reports soon followed from New Hampshire, Kansas, Ohio, Minnesota and West Virginia.
And you guys want our government having oversight of health care?

Did he ever make it to that 58th state?

Meanwhile, get ready for the Permanent TARP giving the feds authority "to regulate all companies that include financial activities "in whole or in part."' Let's see, who might companies that engage in financial activities "in whole or in part" include? That's right, virtually all of them.

If the administration's health-care proposal has the potential to nationalize one-sixth of the economy, Messrs. Frank and Dodd are bidding to cover the rest.

Wasn't it VP Joe Biden who was supposed to oversee the bucket list (and the $18 million web site )to make sure there was accountability and no waste and fraud ?
Perhaps if he wasn't spending so much time doing the Jon Stewart show he would have the time to do the job.

Vice President Joe Biden provides few laughs, gaffes on 'The Daily Show' with Jon Stewart

Speaking of his appearance. This was the 2nd time that his VP motorcade got into accidents this month .This one resulted in 3 injuries . The last one happened while he wasn't in the cars. It resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
Biden's Motorcade Involved In Car Crash; 1 Dead | Joe Biden

That means there have been one death and 3 injuries when cars from Biden's motorcade are involved. More injuries and deaths than ever happened in a Richard Cheney hunting trip.

Unless you mean picking off pedestrians and fellow motorists... probably not. But if he does ;he should invite George Soros on a trip.

Great, stimulus money is being spent to figure out how to raise taxes.

From JWF:

"So the government is taking our money and using it to study new ways to take even more of our money. It just never ends."
Hopenchange...
