No water flow to my toilet tank
Two days ago the water dept came out and opened up the fire hydrant 4 houses down and did some work, when I got home later that day I turned on the faucets in my house and they were spitting out water then they began to run fine. I went to flush my toilet and since then I have no water going to my toilet. My tank will not fill up with water, there isn't even a bit of water dripping into the tank.

I have no clue what the problem is and I'm having a lot of trouble finding answers online to the same kind of problem.

Does anyone know what is wrong and what I can do?

I've been filling up the tank by pouring water in it and it flushes but no water fills the tank back up. I have had no problems at all with my toilet until the water dept came out and messed with the water.

I called the water dept and they told me that since I had water coming into my house they had no clue and couldn't help me!

    Anyone out there PLEASE help!!

I am pretty handy and I don't have the money to call a plumber so I really hope there is a simple solution I can fix myself!

Thank you to anyone that can help!

Most likely, you have dirt in the following :

    1. angle stop / valve under the toilet
    2. water supply: could be clogged on each end
    3. fill valve

You probably don't need to spend any money to fix it. To reinstate water flow to your toilet, do this:

    1. Open and Close angle stop several times. See if the changes in pressure purge the dirt through the system

    2. Close angle stop, unscrew water supply from the tank. Take bucket, point end of the supply line into the bucket and turn angle stop back On. See if you get full flow. If yes, proceed to #3. If not, the clog is in the angle stop or still in the supply line.

    3. I cannot give you exact advice here, because it depends what kind of fill valve you have. But basically, here, you have to open the fill valve and clean it. Reinstall. Turn water back on.

Please, let me know how you did. Good luck ! Milo
