    Colour Red lowlights over Red
Hi I have red hair that has faded at the mo & is looking slightly ginger. My natural colour is about a level 4 medium brown. I want to have it lowlighted with a red colour to blend in the ginger but my friend said tint will not lift tint?

I do not understand what she meant & have been put off. Can anyone offer any advice on what colour to get?

"Color won't lift color" means that a lighter haircoloring won't lighten hair that's been colored with a darker haircoloring. This is because haircoloring is translucent and the darker color will simply add to the new color. You might have a slightly different tone, but the lightness won't change.

However, darkening hair or lowlighting (coloring with a darker haircoloring) will work fine.
