When you flush toilet, all water doesn't go out
We had to install a new toilet kit( flapper, flush mechanism, float, etc... ). I took the old one out and installed new one. I got no leaks so thought I was good to go. However, when we flush it fills with water and barely pushes water out. My flapper has an adjustment of min - max on it and have tried different positions as well as adjust the chain. It also has a float adjustment, which I had adjusted, but still same thing..
    Any ideas?

I have one that most repair plumbers miss.. Look down at the bottom of the bowl. If there is a small hole, then that is a jet that starts the syphon action. If it's clogged the water will just swirl around and slowly go down leaving solids behind. Take your finger,(UGH! ) and run it around the inside of the opening. Over the years minerals build up and cut down on the syphon (flush) action. If it is rough or you feel build up, take a table knife and put a bend in it to get around the curve in the bowl and chip and scrap it clear. Next take a coathanger and clear out the holes around the rim. They start the swirling action. And last, check the water level in the tank. It should be 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube. And speaking of the overflow tube, Make sure the small 1/8" tube from the ballcock to the white overflow tube is connected so it discharges in it and that it's flowing when the ballcock fills. This is what raises the water level in the bowl. For a good solid flush they all have to work together. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply.. Tom

I had read that post earlier and checked the small hole. Additionally when I flush and put my finger in the hole I can feel water coming in. What appears to be the problem is, too much water is coming in and staying in the bowl. When we flush our other toilet it fills the bowl about half way and then ejects water out and only brings a little bit of water back in the bowl

I am going to try to check all of the holes in the rim next. I have also read that it could be the flaps, some have had issues with the adjustable flaps.

If you think of anything else let me know,, thanks.

    Good morning Susie,
You might wish to purchase a closet auger ,(see image) and auger the bowl to be sure something's not caught down there. Good luck, Tom
