Children being harassed at school by teachers
My little girl informed me today that a woman at school stopped her in the hallway and started asking her a lot of personal questions about home in front of the other students. She asked her if every thing at home was okay, if she was being fed, what did she eat for dinner the other night? Things like that. Well I understand why they are asking her because my children do not weigh 300 lbs and they have a high metabolism like me so they eat like horses and don't gain so basically these people at school think we are poor and can't afford food. Ive had people from their school calling and ask me If I need anything and I tell them we have everything we need and thank you but I don't appreciate my children being harassed at their school about it. The same thing was done to me in school by my teachers and its very embarrassing and insulting. They need to make an appointment with me so they can find out what's going on so they have the real story instead of making assumptions. Who do I contact to have this stopped or should I just have them transferred to a school where my kids aren't going to be judged just because they aren't wearing $800 worth of clothing on their butts?

I am sorry if I did not or do not understand your concern, I did not mean to take it lightly but only to ask if perhaps you were allowing past childhood issues of yourself to confuse the issue.
You are of course completely within your right to talk to the teacher or the principal on any matter that concerns you

Miste Chuck my dear. I don't think you saw all of what I put. I do not mind them being concerned or trying to help but you do not stop a child in fron of a whole student body and ask them personal questions like the ones they were asking where everyone else can hear them. Kids are not dumb. My older daughter gets picked on enough in school because of being blind in her left eye. She doesn't need more stress.

I think this problem can maybe be solved by you making an appointment with the teacher.
You need to talk directly to him/her about what is going on. Actually, at this point it is YOU who needs to make an appointment with the teacher, not the other way around.
Teachers are required by law in most states to report abuse or neglect. When the feel they have sufficient evidence they must first question the child. Most of the time the evidence that they feel they have is wrong, but they must pursue their "hunches" if you will.
It is time for you to make the appointment with the teacher and discuss the actions that occurred.

I do feel bad for you. They should talk to you and leave the children out of it. I think sometimes teachers go to far anymore. It's one thing to try to help but to put their nose in where it don't belong and make a child self conscious. I would definely go in and talk to that teacher. (but it could make it harder on the child).

If after you've made appointments and spoken to the teacher and principal, and the harassment continues, go to your county school districts office and file a complaint.
Funny thing... my little brother (many, many years ago) when in Kindergarten, would start crying right after school let out. The school called DSS and reported it. When DSS came knocking at our door one day, they found out that my brother was crying because our mother wasn't the first car in line and he would have to wait.
They don't know everything and will speculate anything if not given a good reason not to. It would look good on your part to personally speak to them about this matter.

Former Teachers?

I have been teaching for nearly four years now, and I have got to say I really don't enjoy it. It's not the subject matter (Chemistry, Science and Math) that bothers me, or the students. I love interacting with them. I just don't enjoy the politics of teaching. I wonder if there are any former...

Teachers vs Home Schooler Instructors
[ 3 Answers ]
Why are regular teachers so upset when told that a child is leaving school to be home educated. After all, if the child is leaving school to be educated at home there is a good reason. Maybe the existence of too much violence and drugs at school has made his attendance impossible for example.
