Okay... Benoquin completely depigments....I get it.....


It is not recommended for hyperpigmentation because it doesn't lighten the skin... just depigs (THIS IS WHAT I HAVE READ ON THIS FORUM)


What I do not understand is that how does it depig without lightening? Are you just black one day and wearing benoquin as usual and then wake up one morning and you've turned pale white over night??

What happens inbetween all of that?:confused::confused::confused:


I would think the lightening would be a gradual process, if that is true then it should be suitable for hyperpigmentation as long as its use is discontinued before one is completely white?

It lightens. You can't go from black (or brown) to white overnight. By the term 'depigmentation', people refer to the removal of the pigmentating cells called melanin. Therefore, most lighteners are considered depigmentators, monobenzone just happens to be more permanent in terms of being able to subdue melanocytes or even kill them, which often gives a lighter to more widespread effect for lighter shades of eumelanin.

People have often used Monobenzone to subdue melanocytes to a certain extent however, giving off a lighter complexion rather than all out pasty white. (Most people can't manage the patience and precision required to use monobenzone as an efficient skin lightener.)

As for hyperpigmentation, Monobenzone was once (many decades ago) used solely for this purpose. As long as it's composed of melanin (the scar or hyperpigmentation), it will affect it. A better primary choice would be using 2% Hydroquinone however; using monobenzone only if necessary as it may cause darker areas to become lighter around the area of application.

Mono just makes the skin turn white and yes it can be days, weeks, or even months but there is no time during the depigmentation process that it lightens its just from one extrem to the next and I got the white spots to prove it
