    Heat Pump Fan won't turn
The large fan on top of my heat pump quit turning last night. There was an odor through the house like a burned out motor. Does anyone know if I can still run the AC without that fan running for any length of time? I had it off through the night but today is much different. Thanks

If the motor fried or burnt out do not run the machine until the motor situation is repaired or replaced. You risk further damage to the equipment by running it without the motor/fan working.

Thank you much. I was 99% certain that was the answer but it does push out cool air w/o that fan so the blower motor is working. I just wasn't sure if we could run it w/o the large fan for any period to help cool things down.

Heat Pump blower, and heat, won't turn off- not contr. Bd. [ 0 Answers ]

I've read about blowers (heat pump) that won't shut off, no matter what done to thermostat, and the cause typically being a faulty control board, and/or fan relay on contl. Board. I replaced board, as tech removed green wire to demonstrate it's fault (didn't turn blower off), but tried a brand new...
